Miami does away with tickets from red light cameras

“The days of our most vulnerable residents being overburdened by these costly fines are over.”

No more worrying over possible tickets in the mail from red light cameras in Miami. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez on Thursday announced that the city will no longer issue tickets from red light cameras, NBC Miami reported. In a tweet, the mayor wrote that “The days of our most vulnerable residents being overburdened by these costly fines are over.”

Back in December, Miami commissioners decided that they would cancel a 2010 contract for the red light cameras that led to citations for $158 an incident. Opponents of the decision argued that the cameras helped prevent accidents.
